Dorothy Kimball Miller, age 90, of Wilmington, NC passed away on Thursday, April 30, 2020.
She was born on January 16, 1930 in Forsyth County to the late Harry Kimball and Iva Lloyd Kimball.
Dorothy was a lifetime member and church worker at the Sea Gate Baptist Church in the Sea Gate Community. She was a loving and devoted wife to her husband of 73 years, Harold Hoover Miller, Sr., who describes her as, “the best wife a man could ask for.” Dorothy loved her children and she loved her extended family of over 100 kids she fostered. She enjoyed cooking for her family and spending time with them.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her daughter, Wanda Finch; and her son, Raymond Miller.
In addition to her husband, Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Harriett Wright and husband, Buck, and Jessica Reynolds; sons, Harold “Shorty” Miller, Jr. and wife, Claudia, Rodney Miller and wife, Susan, and Marcus Miller and wife, Halea; twelve grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and her extended family of over 100 foster children.
A family viewing will be held at Quinn McGowen Funeral Home in Wilmington on Sunday, May 3, 2020 at 3pm. The family will be receiving friends at other times at Harold Miller Jr.'s house at 1595 Riverbend Drive in Burgaw. A funeral service will be held on Monday, May 4, 2020 at 1pm at Sea Gate Baptist Church in Wilmington. Burial will follow at Oleander Memorial Gardens in Wilmington.
