A kind and gentle soul, a gracious and loving Christian lady, Edna Dale Garriss entered into the glory of her Lord on Monday, September 27, 2021 at the age of 101. She was born January 10, 1920 to Lawrence Dale and Annie Ruth Murray Dale, living all of her wonderful life in the small community of Watha.
In addition to her parents, Edna was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Fuller Garriss; son, Charlie Milton Garriss; granddaughter, Tamela Bond Williams; great granddaughter, Marissa Dixon; and brothers Floyd Dale and Elmer Dale.
Edna is survived by her son, Randy Garriss; daughters, Annette Dixon, Peggy Hunt (John), and Brenda Bond; daughter-in-law, Barbara Garriss; nine grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren, and 13 great great grandchildren; sisters, Lucille Odom, Naomi Tatum, Margie Wheeler, and Joanne Moore, and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
She was a faithful member of Watha Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school, sang in the choir and praised the Lord. In her earlier years Edna worked as a CNA.
Edna was a dedicated homemaker and was noted for her lemon pies and from scratch chicken and pastry. Her love of nature and the outdoors was revealed in her manicured yard and beautiful flowers. Edna loved her Lord with all her heart and was a true prayer warrior, her prayer list grew longer as the years went by. Most of all Edna dearly loved and served her family, her church family and her many friends. She will truly be missed on this earth.
A graveside service will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 7, 2021 at Riverview Memorial Park Mausoleum with visitation following the service. Pastor Clint Jones and Pastor Juanita Hollowell will conduct the service.
