Ellen Daughtery Miller

      A kind and gentle soul, a gracious and loving lady, Ellen Daughtery Miller, age 65, passed from her earthly life Tuesday, November 22, 2022 at Lower Cape Fear LifeCare surrounded by family and lots of love.

     She was born February 12, 1957 in Duplin County. She was the daughter of Yvonne Daughtery and Claude Atkinson (both deceased). Later in life Claude married Erma and together they raised a blended family. In addition to Yvonne and Claude Ellen was preceded in death by her sister, Peggy Eury.

     In addition to Erma, Ellen is survived by her wonderful husband, partner and soulmate of 26 years and seven months, Russell “Russ” Lee Miller, Jr.; son, Duane Stevens; daughter, Brandi Parrish (Chris); grandchildren Bella Costante, Makenzie Parrish, Aaliyah Stevens, and Julianna Rae Stevens; siblings, Arlan “Zip” Atkinson (Rebecca), Susan Hunter (Edward), Kristin Dombroski, John Dombroski, Cindy A. Rivenbark (Jason), Genny Gentry (Ken), Lester Grant, and Dereta Grant; sister-in-law, Wanda Brown; brothers-in-law, Danny Eury and Jeff Miller; many extended family members and friends.

    She was a dog lover and spent most of her life with at least one dog by her side. Her current dog, Dexter “Boo” has been a special friend to her. In years past Tigger, Buster and Crip have been faithful companions.  

     Ellen has worked hard all of her life. For the past 20 years has worked as a Certified Nurse Assistant and most recently in medical reports at Champion Assisted Living. After work Ellen liked to sit in her home recliner watching recorded programs and movies. Ellen loved and cherished her family and her job. She enjoyed being outdoors in the sun whether on the beach or on the lake/river in their bass boat. Also, Ellen was a great mother, grandmother, sister and loved role of grandmother as she treasured spoiling their grandkids. Ellen’s life was well lived, and she leaves a legacy of love, giving and faith.

     The family will receive friends at 1:00 p.m. Monday, November 28, 2022 at Quinn McGowen Funeral Home Burgaw Chapel with funeral service beginning at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel. Pastor Lenier Furr will conduct the service. Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Park.
