Ethan Kemp Eldridge, age 21, of Jacksonville, NC passed away on Monday, December 6, 2021 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, NC.
He was born on September 27, 2000 in Wilmington, NC to Steven Kemp Eldridge and Mary Kathryn Cox Greer.
Ethan was a United States Marine, with a sense of honor matched only by his sense of humor. He was the strongest, most capable person anyone could imagine. Ethan was a loving son, brother, uncle and friend. He was also a talented musician and devoted follower of Christ. Any life he touched was better because of him. Ethan's sister, Lauren, sums it up by saying, "Ethan played the **** out of an instrument, would give the shirt off his back and was not afraid to kick some *** when necessary."
Ethan is survived by his mama, Mary Kathryn Cox Greer; step-father, Bobby "B-Man" Greer; father, Steven Kemp Eldridge; sister, Lauren Bailey Eldridge (Cahleen Eakins); step-sister, Ericka A. Greer (Eric Lamair); paternal grandmother, Julia Eldridge Farrior (Stan); aunts, Cathey Greer and Robin Roller (Rick); uncles, Mike Cox (Annette), Wade Cox (Sharon), and Gary Greer (Glenda); niece, Elizabeth Kemp Eldridge-Eakins; special friends, Logan, Jay, Joe, Casey, Matt, Gunnery Sgt. Jones, Mike, Franko, Romero, Stone, Austin, Derek, Ray Bubba, Mason and Mama Duck; the Castle Hayne Baptist Church family; the U.S. Marine Corp. family; and too many more to mention.
Ethan was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Fred Everett Eldridge; maternal grandfather, Haywood Bryant Cox; maternal grandmother, Annette Prince Cox; and aunt, Linda Eldridge.
A memorial service will be held at Castle Hayne Baptist Church, 4544 Parmele Road in Castle Hayne, on Saturday, December 11, 2021 at 11am with Pastor Wayne Holley and Chaplain M. Quinn O'Bannon officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that charitable contributions in memory of Ethan may be made to any of the following: semperfifund.org , MercyShips.org , or fisherhouse.org .
