Franklin Allen Gurganious

     Franklin Allen Gurganious, 85, of Watha, beloved husband, father, grandaddy, brother, uncle and loyal friend passed gently from his earthly life on Thursday, January 21, 2021 at Lower Cape Fear LifeCare.

     He was born May 24, 1935 in Pender County, one of 14 children born to Winston Edward and Vancey Norris Gurganious. In addition to his parents, Franklin was preceded in death by a daughter, Robin Raley and daughter-in-law, Cheryl Gurganious.

      Franklin is survived by his loving wife, Betty Vause Gurganious; sons, David Gurganious, James Gurganious, Timothy Gurganious (Terri), and Michael Gurganious (Paula Blizzard); grandchildren, Sandy Gurganious, Toni Marchio, Dominick Marchio, Montana Gurganious, Rilee Gurganious, Braden Gurganious, and Brennah Gurganious; great grandchildren, Noah and Mercedes; sisters, Vancey Dyson and Hilda Smith; mother of James’ children, Michelle Guida; many nieces, nephews and extended family.

     Franklin served his country honorably in the US Navy. He was retired from US Air and was a faithful member of Shiloh Baptist Church.

     Being a cornerstone in his family, Franklin always made sure each and every one was loved and always taken care of.  He was a loyal friend to many and always willing to lend a helping hand. Franklin’s presence in our family circle will surely be missed.  

     Graveside service will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 24, 2021 at Gurganious Cemetery, 8129 Shiloh Road, Willard, NC. Pastor Gardner Eakins will conduct the service.

     The family will receive friends at the cemetery following the graveside service.
