Geraldine Franz Obituary

Geraldine Teachey Franz, 80, of Wallace, NC, left this earthly life for her eternal home on Sunday, March 14, 2021. Her faith has become a reality as she is now in the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Born on August 18, 1940 in Duplin County, Geraldine was the daughter of the late Hill Carrier Teachey, Sr. and Sarah Mobley Teachey.  She was also predeceased by her loving husband of 38 years, Joseph "Joe" Franz, sisters, Mary Price, Sarah Rivenbark and Esta Mason, and her brother, Hill Carrier Teachey, Jr.

Geraldine was a dedicated member of Wallace Pentecostal Holiness Church where she served as C.E. Director and sang in the church choir.

She is survived by her sister, Betty Kelley and husband, Larry of Wallace; her special sister/sister-in-law, Marjorie Teachey of Wallace; her canine companion, “Kali” and numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, extended family and friends that loved Geraldine dearly.

Geraldine was a woman of uncommon character, beauty, and grace; and to those who knew her, “an instrument of God’s love on this earth.”  She was a friend to all, a strong yet gentle presence who looked for and encouraged the best in everyone.  She was a shoulder upon whom many found comfort and support.  Geraldine was a second “Mama” to many nieces and a special friend to many.  She enjoyed cooking, decorating, and spending time with family.  With a genuine love for children, Geraldine had an instant connection to them.  They could always feel the love she had.  Geraldine started her career as a bank clerk, (which is below a teller’s job). She worked hard and with great work ethics and determination she became the vice-president of the bank, where she retired after 35 years.  Above all, Geraldine loved the Lord and served Him all her life.  After retirement, she went to work at a small local church she was attending where she later became the Administrator of the church.  This small church grew from just a few members to a large church of over 800 people. Geraldine was a special woman who left you feeling better than you did before being around her.  She displayed the love of Christ in her everyday life. Geraldine will surely be missed but treasured memories will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Funeral service will be held at 12 Noon on Thursday, March 18, 2021 at Wallace Pentecostal Holiness Church with her Pastor Bobby Smith and Reverend Buster Price conducting her service.  There will be a special video from her previous pastor, Pastor Phillip Menditto.

Burial will follow the service in Pin Hook Cemetery in Teachey.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 12 Noon, one hour prior to the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial gifts be sent in memory of Geraldine Franz to Wallace P.H. Church, PO Box 354, Wallace, NC  28466.
