Gloria Cliff Obituary

Gloria Ann Cliff, of Winnabow, was called home to her eternal rest on June 28, 2025, at the age of 76.

She was born on March 14, 1949, in the Masonboro Sound area of Wilmington, North Carolina, to the late Wilfred Grendel George and the late Clara Bell (Millis) George.

Gloria spent her early years connecting with the natural beauty of the coast. She often shared the joys about her childhood adventures fishing and digging for clams.

Gloria's proudest role began when she became a mother to four children. She was a firm believer in the power of hard work and perseverance. Determined to lead by example, she enrolled at University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW) to pursue her lifelong passion for teaching. While working toward her degree, she also began an internship with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Her dedication and commitment led to a permanent position, where she went on to serve over 20 years with the Corps before retiring in 2019. Her workplace was more than just a job; it was a second family. Affectionately known as "Mama G," Gloria touched countless lives with her kindness, mentorship, and nurturing spirit.

Gloria had many hobbies which included —gardening, crocheting, line dancing, spending time with her family, and traveling. One of her greatest passions was cruising, having completed eight voyages and had a ninth planned before her passing. She had a true gift for connection, never in a rush, always ready to stop and share a story or lend an ear. A quick trip to the store could even turn into a full-blown social event. Her storytelling, humor, and heartfelt compassion for others left a lasting impression on anyone lucky enough to cross her path. Gloria loved deeply and gave endlessly. To know her was a blessing, but to be loved by her was truly extraordinary. If you knew Gloria closely you know she would say “this is not goodbye, this is see ya LATERS!!”

Gloria is survived by her brother Larry George and wife, Kay ; Her daughter Annita Connolly and husband, Milas; Her sons Albert Cliff and wife, Sarah, David Justice Jr , Christopher Cliff, Roger Bullock and wife, Teresa , Chris Frabotta and wife, Bridgett; Her grandchildren Michelle Hallaway and husband, David, Jerry Windham and wife, Megan, Alex Cliff; Great grandchildren Brayden, Greyson, Tatum, Elssie, Ezra-Maeigh, OakLynn, Elias ; Her best friends who were like sisters; Gloria Price and Sharon Day ; Several nieces, nephews and “unofficial” adopted children.
