Gregory Alan Willett, 76, of Wilmington, passed away on January 23, 2022, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on December 21, 1945, in Jacksonville, NC, to the late Joseph Henry Willett and Pauline (Padrick) Willett.
Greg graduated from UNCW with a bachelor’s degree in History and was an active member of the Cape Fear Civil War Roundtable. He served his country in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War and was a member of the Pine Valley United Methodist Church. Greg, an avid sports fan, loved to play pickle ball, which he did three times every week with his buddies. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be missed dearly by all that knew him.
Greg is survived by his wife Brenda Kathleen (White) Willett; his son Gregory A. Willett II and wife, Crystal; his daughter, Allison Kathleen Willett; his brother, Freddie Willett and wife, Flo; his sisters, Janet Wade and husband, J.C., Sandra White; his grandchildren, Christian Willett and Nathan Willett.
A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, January 27, 2022, at the Pine Valley United Methodist Church in Wilmington with Rev. Dr. Tim Reaves and Rev. Barry Stallings officiating. Private interment will be at a later date at Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville, NC.
