Hamid Motahari, 72, of Wilmington, passed away on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, in Wilmington.
He was born on April 27, 1953, in Iran, to the late Hadi and Forough (Giahi) Motahari.
Hamid had a passion for travel and held a deep appreciation for his home country of Iran. An enthusiast of outdoor activities, he frequently spent time at the beach and camping. He took immense pleasure in exploring various destinations, often driving his 4x4 Jeep during these adventures. Hamid was a devoted father, brother, son, and uncle, and he loved his friends dearly.
Hamid is survived by his daughter, Hope Motahari of Wilmington; his brothers, Saeed Motahari and his wife Aileen of England and Masoud Motahari and his wife Dorothy of Bailey; as well as his sister, Macci Motahari Taheri and her husband Mehran of Tehran, Iran.
Hamid is also survived by several nieces, Monica Motahari Kinton and her husband Matt of Wake Forest, Melissa Motahari Beard and her husband Mark of Wake Forest, Melanie Motahari of Chapel Hill, Tara Motahari of England, Asal Taheri of Iran, and Ghazal Taheri of Iran.
Hamid also cherished deeply his time with his survived grand-nephews and nieces, Micah Kinton, Mason Kinton, and Molly Kinton of Wake Forest, Meritt Beard and McClaire Beard of Wake Forest, and Harrison Duling of Chapel Hill.
In addition to his parents, Hamid was also preceded in death by his son, Hunter Motahari.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Hamid’s honor, may be made to Samaritans Purse.
The funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 am on Sunday, July 13, 2025, at Quinn McGowen Funeral Home in Wilmington. Burial will follow at Oleander Memorial Gardens in Wilmington.
