Harry Walker, Sr. Obituary

Harry Franklin Walker, Sr., age 92, of Willard, North Carolina passed away unexpectantly on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at his home.

He was born on July 21, 1933, in Pender County; the son of the late David Wells Walker and Ruth Johnson Walker.  Mr. Walker was also preceded in death by devoted wife of 59 years Emma Gray Stallings Walker; his siblings Robert Walker, H.C. Walker, Stanley Walker, Alton Walker, Lewis Walker and Elizabeth Jones.

Mr. Walker proudly served his country in the United States Army.  He served his community as Fire Chief of Penderlea Fire Department for over 30 years and was a life-long member of Potts Presbyterian Church. He also worked at the local ABC store after retiring from the TV repair business.

Surviving to cherish his memory are his two sons Harry F. “Frankie” Walker, Jr of Willard and Kenneth “Ken” Walker and wife Lynn of Wilmington; grandchildren Geoffrey Walker and wife Morgan, Aidan Walker and Abbey Walker; great grandchildren Savannah Walker and Sadie Walker; numerous nieces, nephews, extended families and friends that loved Harry dearly.

Harry was a loving father and caring grandfather who loved his family dearly.  He was a simple man who enjoyed simple things, but his greatest joy was spending time with family and friends.  Harry was employed with Padgett’s TV Service for over 30 years.  During this time, he acquired many friendships that lasted throughout his life.  Being an avid history lover, Harry read several historical books over the years.  Harry loved people and was loved in return.  He especially enjoyed getting together with friends, whether eating oysters, watching wrestling or just talking about the world’s problems. Harry was a jokester and loved telling jokes to anyone who would listen.  He enjoyed making others laugh.  Harry loved boiled peanuts, his grapevine and blue birds.  He will surely be missed but cherished memories will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved Harry.
