Helen Autry Obituary

Helen Marie Nobles Autry, age 91, of Willard was surrounded by her loved ones as she passed from this life to her eternal rest on Saturday, September 18, 2021.

She was born on February 9, 1930, in Columbus County; the daughter of the late Homer Hoyt and Bonnie Greene Nobles. Helen was also preceded in death by husband, Earl Lloyd Autry, Sr.; her daughter, Bonnie Strickland Page; her sons, Earl “Dusty” Autry, Jr. and Kregg Nobles Autry; granddaughter, Paula McCollum; brother, Keith Nobles; sister-in-law, Sammie Nobles, and stepmother, Rebecca Nobles.

Helen was a long-time member of Bible Baptist Church.

Surviving to cherish Helen’s memory is her daughter, Elizabeth McCollum and husband, Sam of Greensboro; her grandchildren, Deborah Gomez, Jason Autry, Trey Autry, Danny Strickland, Michelle Parnell and Kaitlin Autry; eight great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; daughters-in-law, Ann Autry and her husband, Tracy Gurganious and Sheila Autry; son-in-law, Randy Page; caregivers, Ruth Newkirk, Bell Brice, Kimberly Meshaw, Rose Walsh and Barbara Batts; special family friends, Janice Norris, Betty Barber, and Patsy Brice Spencer; her faithful canine companion, “Chloe”; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends that loved Helen dearly.

Helen was a loving mother and caring grandmother, great grandmother, and friend to all. She was a simple lady who enjoyed simple things but  her pride and joy were her family.  She dearly loved all her children, especially her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.  They were the ‘apples of her eye’.  Helen enjoyed, when she was able, gardening, working in her yard and flowers.  She loved her Lord and loved going to church when her health permitted.  Helen was a diligent homemaker and with a joyful spirit she filled her home with love and welcomed all who entered. Helen was a great cook and she enjoyed filling her table with delicious food and have family and friends come together to eat and fellowship together.  A special person, mother, grandmother and friend, Helen was loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed.
