Henry "HC" Clay Blake, Jr.

     Henry Clay “HC” Blake, Jr., 82, passed peacefully from his earthly life Saturday, September 4, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family with love.

     He was born July 15, 1939 in Wilmington, the son of Henry Clay Blake, Sr. and Beulah Flynn Blake. In addition to his parents HC was preceded in death by his sister, Zelma Faye Heller; and brother, Alan Blake.

     HC is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Magdalene Blake; sons, Clay Blake (Judy) and Shane Blake; grandchildren; Madison Blake, Mackenzie Blake, Robbie Lennon and April Simpson; numerous great grandchildren; sister, Elizabeth Ann Settlemeyer (Billy); and many extended family and friends.

     He was a steadfast member of Faith Community Chapel where he served as deacon and in many other capacities. In addition to being an insurance salesman, HC was a farmer who tilled the God given soil of the Bladen County farm that he so loved.

     HC was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, father-in-law, and loyal friend.  HC and Magdalene, loving to travel spent many days on the road seeing the sights and taking lots of pictures. HC’s quiet Christian faith and thankfulness for his many blessings spoke clearly to family and friends. He will be remembered as a gentle, kind man who loved God, Family and Country.

     “Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your Lord.” Matthew 25:23.  

     Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at Faith Community Chapel, 2811 Sunset Harbor Road SE, Bolivia NC with Pastor Lewis Benton officiating.

     Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

     The family will receive friends at the cemetery following the interment.
