Hester Edwards Swaringen, 70, passed peacefully from her earthly life Friday, September 12, 2025 at home surrounded by family and love.
She was born November 29, 1954, the daughter of William “Bill” T. Edwards and Thennie Bell Norris Edwards. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Barbara Babson, Eddie Edwards and Michael Edwards.
Hester is survived by her daughter, Angela Crapper (Gene); son, Kenneth “Buddy” Tatum, Jr. (Jan); numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; sisters, Linda Blackmon, Dotty Mattison, Pat Ashline, Trudy Vereen (Jack), Brenda Trosclair (Barney), Michell Fowler, and Becky DeBose; brother, Billy Edwards (Betty); and many extended family members.
Hester was a fiercely independent woman whose strength guided her through every chapter of life. Her greatest devotion was her family, and she gave herself fully to those she loved. She is known to be unafraid of hard work. Her resilience, work ethic, and strength were matched only by the love and loyalty she gave to her family. As a mother, she led by example; teaching courage, grit, and the power of standing tall. As Proverbs 31:25-26 reminds us: "She is clothed with strength and dignity. She can laugh for the days to come. She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction on her tongue.”
