On October 20, 2023 the world lost a kind and caring sole, Ida Faye Griffin, following a brief illness.
She was born February 24, 1948 in Wilmington, the daughter of Johnson Kennedy and Ida Mae Gainey Kennedy. In addition to her parents Faye was preceded in death by her siblings, Shirley Krysiewski, Christine Martin, Grace Greto, Patricia Young, and James Kennedy.
Faye is survived by her beloved husband of 55 years, Walter Griffin; daughters, Kimberli Trotman (Paul) and Jennifer Patterson (Robert); grandchildren, Allyson Wiggs (Hays), Robbie Patterson, and Chase Patterson; many nieces and nephews including Teresa Griffin, James Griffin and Cindi Anderson who were like additional children to Faye and Walter.
Faye loved the smell of salt air drifting from the Sound (inland waterways) as she spent many enjoyable days clamming, both in her youth and as she grew older. She was a whiz at Bingo and crossword puzzles, which she greatly enjoyed. Most of all Faye loved and cared for her family. In fact, Walter said she did everything for him – clothes, cooking, house cleaning, paying bills and much more; Walter did the outside heavy work. Faye and Walter lived together, raised two girls, and worked well together for fifty-five happy years. Fay’s beautiful smile, gentle laughter, and caring manner will be forever missed.
