James Clifton DeBose, age 67, beloved husband, daddy, granddaddy, brother, and loyal friend passed peacefully from his earthly life Monday, January 23, 2023 at home with family and with love.
He was born October 23, 1955 in Pender County, the son of James Linwood DeBose and Edna Merle Eakins DeBose. In addition to his parents Cliff was preceded in death by his brothers, Doug, Len, and Craig DeBose.
Cliff leaves behind his loving wife of 37 years, Linda; son, Christopher DeBose (Jessica); daughter, Kayla Fitzgerald (Scott); sister, Faye Lee (Charles); grandchildren, Gabby DeBose, Gatlyn DeBose, Graelyn DeBose, Jackson Fitzgerald, Ayden Swinson, and Adalyn Swinson; and several nieces and nephews.
Cliff found time for pleasure which for him was fishing and hunting, especially with his children. He was a firefighter with Shiloh Volunteer Fire Department where he has served in many capacities through the years - chief, assistant chief, and board member. Most of all Cliff loved being with family, especially watching his grandbabies play. He loved being “PaPa Cliff” to his grandkids. Cliff’s family is grateful to God for each and everyday that they had with him. Also thankful to friends and family for their love and support during Cliff’s illness and his passing. Cliff was a man of strong and good character who is loved and will be remembered.
The family will receive friends at 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Friday, January 27, 2023 at Shiloh Baptist Church. A graveside service will follow at 12:00 p.m. at Costin Cemetery, 18110 US Hwy 421, Willard, with Mr. Charles Lee conducting the service.
At other times the family will be at the Costin Home Place.
In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be given to Lower Cape Fear LifeCare Foundation, 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401 or to a charity of one’s choice.
