James Edward Deal, 89, passed into the Glory of his heavenly home on Monday, July 7, 2025 at his home surround with love and prayers by family.
He was born April 10, 1936 in Pender County, the son of Charles H. Deal and Ruby Mae Croom Deal. In addition to his parents James was preceded in death by his sister, Linda Harts and brother, Charles Deal.
James is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years, Evelyn Swinson Deal; children, Sherry Johnson (Steve), Mike Deal (Sherry), Pam Bourgeois (Chuck), and Chris Deal (Melissa); grandchildren, Heather Cramer (Robert), Al Wilson (Chad), Cameron Shepard (Kevin), Leigh Atkins (Cameron), and Hunter Deal (Melissa); great grandchildren, Hayley (Stephen), Emaley (Cameron), Stone, Walker, and Riverlyn; great great grandson, Ryker; very dear friends, Dale and Debbie Hardison, Bobby and Shannon Deal, and Wyatt Deal; many extended family and friends, all who loved James.
James served his country honorably in the US Navy. He was president of Woodbury Plumbing where he worked for over 60 years.
A longtime faithful member of Forest Hills Baptist Church James has served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher, and in many other capacities to serve his Lord and Savior as James always did in his everyday life. James enjoyed fishing with his fishing partner, Ed Coburn and I suspect they have already found a fishing hole in heaven. Rabbit hunting was also a favorite sport for James along with his hunting buddy, Marion Eason. James was just an all around good Christian man – a devoted husband, loving daddy and granddaddy, a loyal friend, and a good example of Christ-like living on this earth. His presence in our lives and especially in his family circle and church family will be greatly missed.
The family will receive friends at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 10, 2025 at Forest Hills Baptist Church with funeral service beginning in the sanctuary at 12:00 p.m. The Rev. Dean Walker will conduct the service. Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Park.
The family suggest that you consider a memorial contribution to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, PO Box 50, Memphis, TX 38101-9929.
