James Ronald Harrell, Sr.

     James Ronald Harrell, Sr. age 74 passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 19, 2023 in Wilmington, NC. James was born on November 26, 1948, and is the son of the late Spencer R. Harrell and Mary E. Debose.

   James joined the United States Army at a young age only to become a disabled veteran before his discharge. James was a man who loved hunting and spending time at his home away from home on the Pungo River. James was the proud owner of several fox and deer hunting dogs. He loved these types of hunting dogs so much, that he looked forward to competing in field trials for fox and deer hunting dogs as often as he could.

     James is survived by his daughter, Stephanie Harrell Rabon and her husband, Mike; a son, James R. Harrell, Jr.; six grandchildren, Austin and Bailey Rabon, Alayna, Georgia, Elizabeth, and Casen Harrell; a brother, Richard Harrell and his wife, Linda; a sister, Ann Wood and her husband, Johnny as well as many nieces and nephews and other extended family.

     James is a person who will dearly be missed by all of his friends and family who know him.

     A funeral service to celebrate the life of James will be held on Sunday, August 27, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. in the Quinn-McGowen Burgaw Chapel with the Rev. Ralph Evans officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Hopewell Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
