James "Donnie" Donald Rowe, Sr.

      James Donald “Donnie” Rowe, Sr., 72, of Currie passed from his earthly life Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

     He was born in Wilmington, the son of David Bradford Rowe, Sr. and Kate Ora Moffitt Rowe. In addition to his parents Donnie was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Rowe.

     Donnie is survived by his loving family; his wife of 35 years, Donna Teachey Rowe; children, Tammy Rowe Wells (Keith), James “Jamie” Donald Rowe, Jr., and Shelby Renee Rowe; grandchildren, Gracey Wells and Braxton Wells; brother, David Bradford Rowe, Jr.; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and loyal friends.

     Donnie followed in his dad’s footsteps continuing ownership of Pender Plumbing Company where Donnie was a mentor to his employees as well as to all young folks who crossed his path in life. He had a strong work ethic and always provided high quality supplies and service with honesty and integrity. Despite doctor’s orders Donnie never stopped  his physical labors. 

     He was a true family man loving his whole family. Nothing gave him more pleasure than gathering family together: feeding them, teasing them and laughing with them.   In his younger years Donnie enjoyed softball, coaching softball and restoring/showing his 55 Chevy. In his recliner, Donnie enjoyed watching Westerns and Hallmark movies with his big tabby cat.  He loved family trips to the mountains where his mother grew up. Donnie always told it like it was and if he really liked you he would pick on you and have a good laugh with his wonderful sense of humor. Donna says, “I know I have been loved. Tammy, Shelby and Jamie also have been loved.”

   A graveside service will be 11:00 a.m. SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 18, 2021 at Riverview Memorial Park with Pastor Jay Knolls officiating. Following the graveside service, the family will visit with family and friends at the cemetery.
