Janet McMichael Cramer

Janet “Jan” McMichael Cramer, 75, of Wilmington transitioned from this earthly life to her heavenly seat with her Lord and Savior on Monday, December 29, 2025, surrounded by her loving family at Novant Health New Hanover Regional Health Center.  

Born May 6, 1950, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth Wayne and Gloria Walton McMichael.  She was also predeceased by her husband, Jerry McDaniel Cramer and her brother, Tommy.  

Jan, the patriarch of the Cramer family, lived for family, friends, holidays and her beloved cats. Her family and friends will dearly miss her wild sense of humor and zest for life. Jan was an amputee and suffered with pain for many years. Our hearts rejoice, even in the sadness, that she is whole again and reunited with her love, Jerry, who preceded her in 2018. Jan also opened her heart to a very special companion later in life, Larry Ludlow.  They may have only had a short time together, but they enjoyed love and companionship that many never get to experience.   While Jan’s family is left with heavy hearts, they will cherish the beautiful memories of her they hold dear in their hearts.  

The family will be having a private Celebration of Life for her this Sunday, January 4th, as this was the scheduled date of the annual Cramer Christmas gathering. She LOVED Christmas and the family decided that going ahead with the planned event was the best way to honor her.

Surviving are her children, Jeffrey Cramer and wife, Kristi, of Myrtle Beach, Amanda Cramer of Wilmington and Brian J. Cramer and wife, Kristi of Charleston, SC; 9 grandchildren; and 3 great grandchildren; brother, Randy; sisters, Cathy and Carol Ann and aunt, Linda Lorge.
