Jean Annette (Bollinger) Peterson

Jean Annette Peterson, 84, of Wilmington, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at Lower Cape Fear LifeCare Center in Wilmington.

She was born on November 4, 1940, in Wilmington, to the late Donald and Jean (Best) Bollinger.

Jean was an active member of Masonboro Baptist Church and a member of the American Legion Post #10 Women’s Auxiliary. She enjoyed working outside in her yard tending to her flowers and was a fantastic cook. Jean was a wonderful mother, sister, and grandmother, who will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by her sons, Wayne Marion Peterson, Donald Floyd Peterson and wife, Barbara; her daughter, Thelma Jean Shepard and husband, Buddy; her brother, Donald Elmer Bollinger, Jr. and wife, Nancy; her sister, Sharon Ann Bollinger Spencer-Gillette and husband, Clifford; her granddaughters, Jessica Jean Glynn, Brittany Rose Shepard, Ashley Nicole Shepard, Alexis Ann Peterson; many nieces, nephews and other family members; and her beloved dog, Pooh.

In addition to her parents, Jean was also preceded in death by her husband, Marion Rockwell Peterson; son, Christopher Scott Peterson; and her brother, Keith Burnell Bollinger.
