Jeremy Simpson Obituary

On Wednesday, August 10, 2022 Jeremy Scott Simpson, 43, of Wilmington and formerly of Atkinson flew swiftly on the wings of angels from his earthly life. While Jeremy did not get to complete his earthly life the time he did spend on earth was spent with grit and strong determination, overcoming multiple physical hurdles. His disabilities never slowed him down.

Jeremy was born to James Fredrick Simpson IV and Emily Corbett Simpson on October 4, 1978 in Wilmington. What a joy he was to Emily, James Fredrick and his older brother, Freddy.

Jeremy is survived by his family,  parents, James Fredrick Simpson IV and Emily Corbett Simpson; brother, James Fredrick “Freddy” Simpson V and his wife, Jennifer and their children, Emma Jane and James Davis; many extended family members and friends all who loved Jeremy.

Jeremy received a BS degree in Marketing and Business from UNCW. Using what he learned with this degree Jeremy began JSI (Jeremy Simpson Insurance) of which he was so proud and did so well.

He grew up on and in Black River, never missing a chance to fish, hunt, and play in the river. After his near death injury (8 years ago), Jeremy built a handicap accessible hunting camp that he could roll right into. Not only did Jeremy love helping his senior clients, he also was kind, generous and good hearted to many. Most of all Jeremy loved his family. Often he gave and shared things that no one knew about. With Jeremy there was never a dull moment, he lived each and every day to the fullest. Jeremy was blessed by the Lord to have the know-how and strength to continue living a great life. His life, brief as it was, was blessed and full of love and a little bit of mischief. Love you, Jeremy!

Graveside memorial service will be 4:00 p.m. Sunday, August 14, 2022 at Simpson Cemetery, off of Point Caswell Road near Atkinson. Pastor Jacob Lewis and Pastor Jim McBride will conduct the service. Following the graveside service the family will visit with friends at the cemetery.
