Jerry Afton Autry, age 78, stepped into Glory on the Lord’s Day, November 24, 2024.
He was born September 16, 1946, the son of Mattie Autry. In addition to his mother, Jerry was preceded in death by his beloved wife Sue Autry and brother, Raleigh Autry.
Jerry is survived by his sons, Leslie Autry and Ray Kennedy and wife, Jackie; grandchildren, Ronnie Kennedy (Shaina), Amber Kennedy, and Taylor Moser (Jonathan); great grandchildren, Ayden, Avery, Jeremiah, Annaleigh, Kinsley, Avelyn, and Abigail.
Jerry served his country proudly and honorably in the US Army during the Vietnam Conflict. Many remember Jerry as a law enforcement officer as he worked as a deputy for Pender County Sheriff Department, officer in the Burgaw Police Department and Surf City Police Department. Jerry was a member of Faith Independent Baptist Church in Magnolia.
In his younger years, Jerry enjoyed hunting and always loved being outdoors in God’s wonderful world of nature. Jerry was always thoughtful and considerate of others. He loved and served God, Family, Country, friends and neighbors.
The family will receive friends at 1:00 p.m. Friday, November 29, 2024, at Quinn McGowen Funeral Home Wallace Chapel with service at 2:00 p.m. Pastor Ray Kennedy will conduct the service. Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Park.
