Jerry Michael O'Bannion

Jerry Michael O’Bannion, 69, of Grove City, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, April 17, 2021, in Atkinson, NC.

He was born on January 14, 1952, in Ashland, Kentucky, to Alene (Leadingham) O’Bannion and the late Crawford O’Bannion.

Jerry was so much to so many. He was a loving husband, father, son, grandparent and great-grandparent. He was a best friend, a righteous pastor, an incredible teacher, an accomplished singer-songwriter, a fledgling painter, a published author, a skilled playwright, a witty prankster, a master storyteller, an amateur film critic, a proud Appalachian Irish-American, a walking encyclopedia of history, music, comics, religion and everything in between. But above all else, Jerry was an inspiration to everyone who knew him. He was truly one of a kind and will be sorely missed. 

Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Vicki Lynne (Downing) O’Bannion; son, Dylan O’Bannion; daughter, Molly O’Bannion and husband, Rick Maynard; grandchildren, Alexandria Howell and husband, Kenny, Addison Maynard; and great grandchildren, Alexis Jackson and Kendyn Howell.

Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.

A Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help located at 3730 Broadway, Grove City, OH. 43123, on Friday, April 30th at 4pm.

Graveside Services will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens located at 8580 Gallia Pike Road, Franklin Furnace, OH. 45629, on Saturday, May 1st at 2pm.

Wake to follow Graveside Services at The American Legion Post 23, located at 705 Court Street, Portsmouth, OH. 45662.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that charitable contributions be made, in memory of Jerry, to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital at www.stjude.org.
