Jimmie Padgett, age 83, of Dahlonega, Georgia passed gently from his earth life on Tuesday, February 4, 2025 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center-Gainesville, Georgia.
He was born May 7, 1941 in Pender County, the son of Orby Hoisery Padgett and Annie Caison Padgett. In addition to his parents Jimmie was preceded in death by his sisters, Thelma Brown and Annie Ruth Piner.
Jimmie is survived by his devoted wife of 64 years, Peggy Ezzell Padgett; sons, Jimmie Craig Padgett (Kim) and Rodney Darrin Padgett (Connie); granddaughter, Taylor Nicole Padgett; many extended family and friends, all who loved Jimmie.
Jimmie devoted 20 years of his life to serving in the US Army, many of those years spent in the 2nd Ranger Company and he also served a tour of duty in Vietnam. All the 20 years in the military Jimmie spent in food service as a chef.
Jimmie was a caring, sharing man that was in public service most of his life. Also, he was always willing to lend a helping hand wherever and whenever needed. In years past he enjoyed being outdoors in God’s beautiful world of nature hunting, fishing or simply admiring wildlife. He and Peggy enjoyed traveling, visiting places of interest. Jimme was loved by family and friends and will be truly missed.
A graveside service will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 10, 2025 at Riverview Memorial Park with Pastor Rodney Bonham conducting the service. The family will visit with friends at the cemetery following the service.
