On Tuesday night, August 9, 2022 our beloved Jimmy James Rivenbark, age 84, of Benson and formerly of Burgaw went to be with Jesus.

He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Mamie Chadwick Rivenbark; daughter, Kathy Rivenbark (John Ridd); sons, Jay Rivenbark (Sonia), and Keith Rivenbark (Renee); grandchildren, Allison R. West (Brian), Ben Rivenbark (Tiffany), Asheton R. Smith (Justin), Joshua Rivenbark (Lynse), Kayla R. Dowdy (David), Daniel Gause (Kelly), Kaleb Coward (Brittany), and Kaitlyn Coward; great grandchildren, Claire, Ava, Alexis, Brayden, Tucker, Grier, Layla, Trevor, Emma, Ansleigh, Carter, Nash, and Walker; many extended family member and friends, all who loved Jimmy.
Jimmy was retired after 30 years as an enforcement officer with NC Wildlife Resources Commission. Also, he was a retired Pender County farmer. Gideons International where he had served as a state officer was near and dear to Jimmy’s heart. Wherever Jimmy and Mamie lived they found a church home which currently was Friendly Chapel Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church in Benson.
Jimmy was loved by many and was the BEST husband, daddy, granddaddy, great granddaddy, uncle, and friend. His passing closes an entire generation of himself and his siblings. Jimmy was known best for his wisdom, thoughtfulness, generosity, humility, and for his unending devotion to his family, loyalty to friends, and faithful service to his Lord.
He lived by a simple creed: Do justice, love your neighbor, and walk humbly with God. Jimmy’s life was devoted to uplifting others.
Well done, thy good and faithful servant, enter into your rest.
