John “Sam” Lark Mobley, 90, of Wallace, NC passed away peacefully on Friday, January 10, 2020 at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville with his loving family by his side.
He was born November 11, 1929 in Duplin County to the late John and Bessie Mobley. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his sisters, Helen Teachey and Barbara Sealy.
John is survived by his wife of 64 years, Barbara Atkinson Mobley; sons, Chris Mobley and Gary Mobley and wife, Brookie; daughters, Sheila Autry and Cheryl Mahmood and husband, Ahmad; grandchildren, Kaitlin, Johnathan, Jennifer, Kimberly, Kelly Jo, Micheal and Justin; nine great-grandchildren and numerous extended family and friends.
John proudly served his country in the United States Armed Forces during the Korean Conflict. He was employed at J.P. Stevens in Wallace and a member of Northeast Pentecostal Freewill Baptist Church. Two of his favorite past times were hunting and fishing. John loved his family and he loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He will surely be missed but treasured memories will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved John.
Funeral service will be held at 6:00pm on Wednesday, January 15, 2020 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Wallace Chapel with Pastor Kevin Peterson officiating. Visitation will follow the service at the funeral home.
Graveside service will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, January 16, 2020 at Rockfish Memorial Cemetery in Wallace.
