Joseph Lee Johnson

     Joseph Lee Johnson, 76, passed from his earthly life Thursday, July 21, 2025 at Pender Memorial Hospital in Burgaw.

     He was born February 9, 1949 in Pender County, the son of Troy Thomas Johnson and Lena Ruth Lewis Johnson, both who preceded Joseph in death.  Joseph was also preceded in death by his brother, Melvin Johnson and two sisters, Susie Hart and Francis Rivenbark.

     Joseph is survived by his children, Kirk Johnson (Sonja), Paul Johnson (Michelle), Holly Johnson (Wesley Tyler), and Jeffery Johnson (Amber); ten grandchildren; six great grandchildren; sisters, Kay Larson, Tonya Batchelor (Dennis) and Diane Sterling; brothers, Bobby Johnson and Toby Johnson; special family; Phillip Rivenbark, Edward Rivenbark, and Mike Johnson and many friends. 

    Joseph was an avid outdoorsman who found joy in nature, especially through hunting and fishing. He had a particular passion for dog hunting and was a proud member of the Old Farts Hunting Club. When not hunting, he enjoyed spending time fishing. Loved by his family, Joseph will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

     The memorial service will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 28, 2025 at Quinn-McGowen Burgaw Chapel with Mr. Phillip Rivenbark conducting the service.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the memorial service.
