Joseph Morton Rogers Jr., age 78, of Wilmington, NC, passed away on Thursday, December 12, 2024, at Novant Health New Hanover Medical Center in Wilmington, NC.
He was born on July 20, 1946, in Fulton, New York to the late Joseph Morton Rogers Sr. and the late Lucille Bryan Henderson Rogers.
Joseph, a former employee of Rogers Appliance Inc., was an active member of the Livingstones Tabernacle in Hampstead, NC, and managed the House of Bread Food Pantry for several years developing many lifelong friendships. He was a devout Christian whose passion was to read and study his bible, attending and graduating from Grace Theological Seminary in Loris, SC, with a Batchelor’s Degree and was presently working on his doctorate. He also received a Master of Biblical Studies Degree as well as a Batchelor of Biblical Studies Degree from Living Word Full Gospel Ministry and Bible College in Richlands, NC.
Joseph is survived by his son, Eric Rogers of Jacksonville, NC; his daughters, Dorothy Brooks and husband, Bill, Bernadette Mateo and husband, Ricky, of Swansboro, NC; his brother, Alvin Rogers and wife, Sandy, of Wilmington; his four grandchildren, Kyle and Kody Rogers, Leila and Brandon Mateo; his step sons, Gary Watkins of Jacksonville, NC, Wayne Watkins and wife, Becky; his step daughter, Sherry Kittrell of Hampstead, NC; six step grandchildren; and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Joseph is also preceded in death by his wife, Lottie Gardner Rogers on November 22, of last year.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at Livingtones Tabernacle in Hampstead, NC.
