Joseph "Joe" Daniel Teachey

Joseph “Joe” D. Teachey, 77, of Teachey, North Carolina passed from this life to his eternal rest on Monday, December 15, 2025.

He was born on August 4, 1948, in Duplin County, the son of the late-Dallas Daniel and Myrtle Ann Merritt Teachey.  Joe was also preceded in death by his devoted wife of 34 years Joyce Fussell Teachey and brother James “Bobby” Teachey.

Surviving is his daughter, Tammy Teachey Quinn and husband, Robert of Rose Hill; sons, Mathew Teachey of Rose Hill and Joseph Scott Teachey and wife, Sheri of Wallace; grandchildren, Gary Dylan Sessoms, Sarah Elizabeth Sessoms, Emily Caroline Quinn, Ethan Robert Quinn, Elijah Teachey,  Steven Teachey, Chase Teachey and Laken Murray and husband Patrick; grandchildren,  Lucas Joel Wilkenson and Ray Higgins;  sister, Dallas Faye Lancaster, numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends that loved Joe dearly.  

Joe was a dedicated husband and father who loved his family with all his heart.  He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed spending time doing anything that involved the outside, including hunting and fishing. Joe loved animals.  Earlier in his life he had ‘show horses’ that he was very proud of.  Joe was usually a calm and quiet man who tended to his own business.  He will surely be missed but never forgotten.

The family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home, Wallace, NC.  Graveside funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, inside the Mausoleum Chapel at Riverview Memorial Park. Pastor Philip Eakins will be conducting the service.   After the service, Joe will be entombed in Riverview Memorial Park Mausoleum.
