Larry Faulk Obituary

Larry Michael Faulk, 69, of Wilmington, passed away during surgery due to complications from a tragic accident at home, on Friday, September 24, 2021, at NHRMC.

He was born on February 26, 1952, in Wilmington to the late John William and Thelma Marie (Harker) Faulk Miller.

Larry spent most of his years on the South Side where he attended William Hooper school. He was proud to have been coached by the selfless man of the Wilmington Optimist Club, who gave their time coaching little league baseball on South Front Street. He played for Moore Fonville and the Ambassador Coffee shop. Known as Little Larry, this is where he showed his huge heart for the first time pitching against boys much bigger and getting them out with control. His next fifty plus years was spent playing pocket billiards, where his name would be brought up with anyone discussing the best players in Wilmington, NC. Larry even played pool tournaments in Las Vegas. He was always a good sport, win or lose, and always a good teammate and champion brother.

One of our favorite memories was when Larry and Steve ran the go-cart track at Carolina Beach. That led to their love of racing. They later bought and raced a Legend Car. In 1982, the three brothers bought a boat together, so they could start a clamming and oystering venture. These things brought much joy and great memories to our family. When people hear the Faulk name they think of playing pool, racing and fishing.

In the last ten years there has hardly been a week that went by that he didn’t help somebody. He had unconditional love and understanding for friends fighting demons. He was the cornerstone of our family and can’t be replaced in our hearts. He was a free spirit and would not want us to sit around crying for him.

He loved his family and getting them all together was the most important thing to him. He lived life his way, and enjoyed every day he had on this earth.

Larry is survived by his daughters, Lisa Faulk; Jill Hall and husband, Ben; his best friend and former wife of 37 years, Phyllis Faulk; his brothers, Terry Faulk and wife, Lisa, and John John; his sister, Pamela; his grandchildren, Haley, Kameron, Kaysie, Zane; his great grandchildren, Falon Grace, Ella Grace; his sister-in-law, Judy Faulk; nephew, Eric; nieces, Ashley, Kayla; his best friend and sidekick, Daisey; his childhood friends, Aberdeen, Ricky, Freddy; and host of other family and friends.

In addition to his parents, Larry was also preceded in death by his brother, Steve Faulk; and niece, Julie Faulk.
