Laura Merle (Gurganious) Bishop

      A kind and gentle soul, a gracious and loving lady, Laura Gurganious Bishop entered eternal rest on Thursday, July 2, 2020 at the age of 85. She was born September 1, 1934 in Pender County to Cleveland and Effie Mae Costin Gurganious. In addition to her parents Laura was preceded in death by her cousins, LuCindia Gurganious, Alma Gurganious, and Pearl Brown.

     Laura is survived by her beloved husband of 67 years, Eugene Bishop; daughters, Cheryl Flarida and husband, Craig of Leander, TX, Carolyn Guyton and husband, Donnie of Conway, SC, and Laura Hatcher and husband, Keith of Wilmington; son, Bruce Bishop and wife, RaeAnn of Honesdale, PA; grandchildren, Michael Bishop and wife, Allison, Travis Flarida and wife Laura, Tom Flarida, Jonathan Bishop, Zachary Johnson, William Guyton, Conor Guyton, Tanner Guyton, and Emily Hatcher; great grandchildren, Baylee Bishop and Corey Flarida; and many extended family and friends.

     She loved her children and grandchildren more than life itself.  She enjoyed Sunday afternoon cookouts, playing games with the grandkids and most of all spending time with and loving her family. Laura's passing leaves an empty place in our family circle and in our hearts.

    Due to the current health issues in our country, a private family memorial service will be held to honor Laura.
