Lendon Wayne Lampley Obituary

It is with deep sadness that we announce the unexpected and sudden passing of our husband, father, Pop, brother, uncle and friend, Lendon Wayne Lampley on Tuesday, June 10, 2025  at the age of 52 years leaving behind a legacy of love and kindness that will be cherished by all who knew him. Born March 11, 1973 in Richmond County, he was the son of Lendon L. Lampley and Peggy Gardner Lampley, both who preceded Wayne in death.

Wayne is survived by a loving family who will forever hold his memory close: his wife of fifteen years, Kathy Lampley; sons, Matthew Lampley, Robert Emerson and wife, Renee, Gabriel Griesbach, and Zachary Griesbach; granddaughter, Margaux Emerson; sister, Priscilla Kindley (Joe); niece, Leigh Ann White (Jason); nephew, Curt Kindley (Paige); and many loyal friends and co-workers.

Wayne served his country honorably and proudly for 25 years in the US Navy where he made many lifelong friends. After his military retirement Wayne embarked on a second career in law enforcement, currently working for Pender County Sheriff's Department.

Wayne was not only an outstanding family man, but a true gentleman who never met a stranger. He enjoyed grilling (especially Barbeque of all kinds), gatherings of family and friends, and sharing his gregarious personality with one and all. His presence in our lives will surely be missed.

A celebration of his life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 14, 2025 at Quinn McGowen Funeral Home Burgaw Chapel to honor Wayne’s remarkable journey and the indelible mark he left on the hearts of all who knew him. Chaplain James Malloy will conduct the service.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service.

To Wayne’s many friends, the Pender County Sheriff's Department, Pender Sheriff’s Charitable Foundation, and the Pender County community Wayne’s family would like to thank you for every kindness shown … prayers, cards, and all loving expressions of assistance and concern. We thank God, our Heavenly Father, for the gift of friends and pray His eternal blessings to all.

In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Wayne Lampley Student Scholarship fund continuing his legacy of service to others.  Pender Sheriff’s Charitable Foundation, PO Box 363, Hampstead, NC 28443 or, donate at PSCFNC.org and reflect Lampley in the notes space.

Shared memories and condolences may be sent to the family by selecting Tribute Wall.
