Linda Williams Owens, 74, of Burgaw passed gently to her eternal rest on Saturday, March 14, 2020 at The Laurels of Pender where Linda was so lovingly cared for the past two years.
She was born March 12, 1946 in Bainbridge, MD, the daughter of the late Harry Whrens Williams and Virginia Casey Williams. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Edward Stephen “Steve” Owens, Jr. in 2014.
Linda leaves behind her beloved family, her daughter, Joy Lynn Owens Usher and husband, Juston; sons, Edward Stephen Owens III and wife, Janelle and Joseph Harry Owens and wife, Heather; grandchildren, Allison Usher Page (Dylan), Ashley Usher, Madison Owens, Brooklyn Owens, Ross Owens, Katelyn Owens Chewning (Harold), Aaron Grace Owens, Will Owens and Graham Owens; great grandchildren, H L and Lena Hope Chewning, brothers, Whrens Williams (Judy) and Samuel Williams (Karen); and many extended family and friends.
Linda was retired from the NC Department of Corrections. She served as a district officer and on the state committee for State Employees Association of NC. Linda was a former charter member of Order of Eastern Star Burgaw Chapter 217 (now merged with Goldenrod Chapter 142 in Wilmington) and was a leader of the Rainbows. Linda was a member of Burgaw Baptist Church.
Linda was a devoted wife and loving mother who dedicated her life to her family. When her children were growing up Linda volunteered at Pender Academy and was always interested in all of her children's activities. A favorite pastime of Linda’s was playing bridge and she was a skilled player. Linda’s sunny smile, twinkle in her eyes, and love for her family is remembered.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 21, 2020 at Burgaw Baptist Church with the Rev. William Smith and the Rev. Tom Canady conducting the service.
Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 21, 2020 at the home of Linda Owens in Burgaw.
