Linda Rich Obituary

Linda Gurganus Rich, 69, of Wallace passed from this earthly life to her eternal rest on Monday, August 8, 2022, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on January 3, 1953, in Duplin County, NC; the daughter of the late Verney and Evona Gurganus of Beulaville.

Surviving to cherish her memory is her best friend and husband of 49 years, James Earl Rich; sister, Marlene Edwards (James Allen) of Lumberton; brother, Jerry Gurganus (Eleanor) of New Bern; brothers-in-law, Ronnie Rich; Wayne Rich (Hope); sister-in-law, Sharon Rich (Sherry Smith), all of Wallace; special nephew, Jon Edwards (Amy Miller) of Rowland; nieces and nephews, Jerry Gurganus, Jr. (Rhonda); Ann Marie Hanchey (Andrew); Stratton Rich; Caitlin Rich Miller (Jake); Devin Rich (Brittany); Jeff Edwards (Ginger); Monica Ingle (Scott); and Teresa Honeycutt (Chris Miller); 12 great nieces, 6 great nephews, 3 great-great nieces, along with numerous extended family and friends that loved Linda dearly.

Linda loved all her family, especially her nephew Jon who was like a son to her.  Jon could always make her smile and brighten her day.

Linda was a devoted wife, loving sister, aunt and friend.  She enjoyed family get-togethers and spending time with ones close to her.

In 1981, Linda and James Earl established Rich’s Heating and Air and together served this community and surrounding areas for 37 years.

When she wasn’t working, Linda enjoyed shopping.  She loved going to the Tanger Outlets in Myrtle Beach, but would always end up at Bass Pro Shop where she would always buy for James Earl and not herself.  Linda loved spending time at Lanier’s Campground in Surf City, enjoying the beach, fishing and relaxing with family and friends, watching Fox News, spending time at Santee Cooper, along with dancing at Myrtle Beach. Traveling was also a favorite of hers.  In their 49 years of marriage, Linda and James Earl enjoyed over 36 trips, which consisted of cruises and flying to numerous destinations.

Most of all, Linda loved the Lord and today she is in the arms of her Savior Jesus Christ.  She will surely be missed, but treasured memories of her will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved Linda.
