Lorraine Bernice Schnaebele

Lorraine Bernice Schnaebele, 97, of Wilmington, NC, formerly of Charles County, Maryland, passed away on Friday, August 29, 2025, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on January 1, 1928, in Washington D.C. to the late Fredrick Jacob and Gertrude Gesina (Thee) Schnaebele.

Lorraine retired from the Federal Communications Commission in January of 1986. She enjoyed riding horses, painting and travelling. Lorraine also learned how to fly a plane.

With a heart full of faith, Lorraine was a devoted member of the Lutheran Church, living out her love of Christ through service and fellowship. She was a wonderful daughter, sister, sister-in-law, and aunt, who will be deeply missed.

Lorraine is survived by her sister-in-law, Joy Lee Schnaebele; her nieces, Teri Hupert and husband, Stanley, Elaine Cioffi; her nephew, Jimmy Schnaebele; great nephews, Spencer Hupert, Nicholas Druda; great nieces, Amber Hupert, Cathy Cioffi, Jennifer Druda and husband, Nick.

In addition to her parents, Lorraine was also preceded in death by her brothers, Edward Spencer Schnaebele and Ernest Fredrick “Freddy” Schnaebele.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Shriner’s Children’s Hospital.

A Celebration of Lorrain's Life will take place at 12:00 pm on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at Bryans Road Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Bryans Road, Maryland, with Pastor Chris Ogne officiating. .
