Macon George Peek, Jr., age 76, of Burgaw, NC passed away on Thursday, April 28, 2022 at Lower Cape Fear LifeCare in Wilmington, NC.
He was born on August 31, 1945 in Greensboro, NC to the late Macon George Peek and Edna Henley Peek.
George graduated from Bessemer High School in 1963. He was Assistant Manager of the Sears Catalog Merchant Program. Later, George became a Manufacturing Sales Rep for VA, NC and SC selling building material and hardware. He was past President of NC Ramblers Association. George was also a member of Old Guard, a southern hardware salesman association. He was the former Deacon of Little Chapel on the Boardwalk in Wrightsville Beach. George was a 32 Degree Mason at the Corinthian Lodge #542 A.F. & A.M. as well as a member of the Scottish Rite Valley of Greensboro. He had a great sense of humor, with a wit that made everybody laugh. George enjoyed gardening, fishing and dancing the shag. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family.
George is survived by the love of his life, Becky McWatty; daughters, Amry Ermovick, Ginger Peek Hauge (Andy), Stacy Peek Heidinger (David); step-son, James McWatty (Emily); step-daughters, Allyson Neal (Kevin), Katie McWatty (Shane); sister, Sandra Peek; grandchildren, Haley Butts, Aidan and Hayes Heidinger, Drew and Charlotte Hauge, Aidan Ermovick, Wyatt and Mary Ashley McWatty; nephew, Robert Peek, Jr.
In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Peek.
A memorial service will be held at Quinn McGowen Funeral Home in Wilmington on Friday, July 1, 2022 at 2pm. A visitation will follow the service from 3pm to 5pm.
In lieu of flowers, charitable contributions in memory of George may be made to the Masonic Home for Children at Oxford at mhc-oxford.org.
