Manley Carr Obituary

Manley Davis Carr, 72, of Wilmington, NC passed away on April 23, 2022, surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Brenda Harrell Carr; his children, Anne Carr Easterling (Joe) and Mac Carr (Laura); his grandchildren, Noelle, Moriah, Maddox, and Ainsley; his sister, Edna Rae Rivenbark (Ray); his sister-in-law, Glenda Harrell; his brother-in-law, David Harrell (Debbie); and multiple beloved nieces, nephews, and other extended family members. He was predeceased by his parents, Manley Alexander Carr and Alice Jones Carr.

Born and raised in Teachey, NC, Davis enjoyed participating in Boy Scouts of America. As a youth, his bravery and Scout spirit were recognized when he was awarded the Carnegie heroism award for saving a young man from drowning. Davis attained the highest rank of Eagle Scout and continued to serve Boy Scouts of America as a Scout Master in Troops 200 and 255. Davis was a graduate of Wallace-Rose Hill High School and attended UNC-Wilmington prior to enlisting in the United States Army.

After his time spent in the military, Davis began working for Robert H. Goslee and Associates Land Surveyors. In the years to come, Davis worked diligently to achieve his Professional Land Surveyor License and his NC General Contractor License. He became the owner and president of Robert H. Goslee and Associates in 1998, serving southeastern NC with offices in Wilmington and Wallace. During his time as a professional land surveyor, he served as the treasurer for the Southeastern Chapter of the NC Society of Surveyors (NCSS) for several decades. Davis was recognized in 2012 as the NCSS Surveyor of the Year. Over the last thirty years, it was his great pleasure to be involved in his hometown community in Duplin County.

Davis faithfully attended Northside Church for many years, serving as a youth leader, deacon, and preschool Sunday School teacher. Over the years, Davis frequently shared his professional knowledge and skills to help the church body complete many construction projects. Children were especially important to Davis, and he enjoyed bringing joy to them throughout the year, especially during the Christmas season. Davis will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather, and servant of Jesus Christ.

The family would like to express appreciation for the quality of care and comfort provided for Davis by the nurses and doctors during his time in the ICU at Novant Health NHRMC.

Visitation will be 6-8 pm Tuesday, April 26, 2022, at Northside Church, 2501 N. College Road in Wilmington.
