Marian Ellison Obituary

Marian Jackson Ellison, 82, of Burgaw and formerly of Watha, left this earthly life for her eternal rest on Wednesday, October 13, 2021.

She was born on June 11,1939 in  Duplin County; the daughter of the late Davis Jackson and the late Daisy Rush Jackson Merritt.  She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, James William Ellison; her son, Randy Caffee and daughter, Donna Gore.

Marian was a member of Watha Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church.

Surviving are her grandsons, Joel Brown and wife, Christine of Wilmington and Benjamin "Benji" Brown of Hallsboro; great grandchildren, Madison Brown, Knox Brown and Luke Brown; sisters, Betty Marshburn of Jacksonville, Gail Galbreath and husband, Garry of Carey; brothers, Glenn Merritt and wife, Cynthia and Jerry Merritt, all of Watha; and numerous extended family and friends that loved Marian dearly.

Marian was a kind and loving lady who loved her family very much.  She was a simple woman who enjoyed simple things in life.  She was a woman of uncommon character, beauty and grace, “ an instrument of God’s love on this earth.”  Marian was known for her faith in God and trusted him as her Lord and Savior. She loved her church and church family.  Being a great cook, Marian never used a recipe. She said she only used 'this and that' to make it good.  Everything she cooked was good but some family members thought her chicken and pastry was the best. Benji made it known that it was his favorite so she would freeze some of it so when he visited he could take some home with him.  Marian was a true friend; a strong yet gentle and loving presence to all who were blessed to know her. She will surely be missed but treasured memories will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

The family will receive friends from 9:00 to 9:30a.m. on Friday, october 15, 2021 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home in Wallace.

Funeral service will follow the visitation at  9:30a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Clint Jones officiating.

Burial will be held at 12 Noon on Friday, October 15, 2021 at Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville, NC.

In lieu of flowers, the family ask that memorial gifts be sent to Watha PFWB Church, c/o Cynthia Merritt, 1744 Anderson Road, Watha, NC  28478 or to Lower Cape Fear LifeCare, 1414 Physicians Dr, Wilmington, NC 28401.
