Mary (Gralak) Garner

Mary Gralak Garner, age 82, of Wallace, NC left this earthly life for her eternal rest on Tuesday, January 31, 2023.

She was born on November 2, 1940, in New Hanover County, NC and was the daughter of the late Irving D. Gralak and the late Mary Oliver Gralak Savage.  Mary was also preceded in death by her son, David R. Williams, her sisters, Martha Ann Horne and Mary Lee Blunt and brother, Irving D. Gralak.

She was a devoted member of Wallace First Assembly of God Church.

Surviving are her children, Paul C. Williams and wife, Brigida, Roy A. Williams, Douglas W. Williams and wife Crystal, Tracy Simpson and husband, Wesley, Virginia A. Teachey, Thomas Garner and wife, Tammy, Elizabeth Booth, Pamela Berinsky and Houston “Sam“ Garner; 11 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; sister, Elizabeth Chase; and numerous extended family and friends that loved Mary dearly.   

Mary was a simple lady who enjoyed the simple things of life. She was joyful and jolly almost every time you saw her.  She loved her children with all her heart and was “Maw-Maw” to her great grandchildren.  Mary was a determined person who knew what she wanted.  You never had to second guess her.  With great faith, she trusted her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in all things.  Mary served at the Blessing House food pantry and helped with the food truck.  Being a true servant, she helped making meals at her church to raise money to buy food for the church pantry.  A favorite pastime of Mary’s was going to thrift stores and pawn shops.  She seemed to always find a bargain. Mary also loved to drive.  She enjoyed getting in her car and drive wherever she needed to go.  Mary will surely be missed by her family, her church family and her many, many friends.  We are not saying “good-bye” to her, just “see ya later, Mary”.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 3, 2023 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Wallace Chapel with her pastor, Reverend Leo Bracken officiating.  The family will receive friends immediately following the service for one hour at the funeral home.
