Michael Charles George

Michael Charles George, 49, of Currie left this earth way too soon, leaving a big hole in our hearts.

     He was born February 13, 1970 in Guilford County and passed away Thursday morning, October 10, 2019 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.   

  Remembered is Michael’s father, Charles Jennings George, Jr.; grandparents, Donald and Minnie Thornton and Charles George, Sr. and Stacy George; aunts and uncles, Lellon Raynor, Wayne Thornton and Donald Lynwood Thornton, all who preceded Michael in death.

     Michael is survived by his mother, Shelley Thornton Martin and her husband, Tony Martin; half-brothers, Tony Martin, Jr., Troy Martin, and Tracy Martin; aunts and uncles, Jackie Maynard, Jerry Thornton (Judy), Connie Bussey (Doyle), and Terry Bryant (Ronnie); many cousins, other family and friends.

     Michael served in the US Navy.  He loved his family and was a caring son to his beloved mother. Being handy with tools, Michael was conscientious and proud of everything he made. Michael’s presence on this earth will be greatly missed.

     A memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 16, 2019 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Burgaw Chapel with the Rev. Tony Moore conducting the service. Following the memorial service the family will receive friends at the funeral home.
