Mickey Gerald Sharp

     It is with great sadness that we share with you the passing of our dear Mickey Gerald Sharp who departed his earthly life on Monday, June 10, 2024 at Lower Cape Fear LifeCare in Wilmington.

     He was born March 15, 1960 in Bowling Green, Ohio, the son of Harrison Sharp and Erma Garvin Sharp. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Beulah Jane Sharp and brother, Terry Sharp.

     Left to cherish his memory is Barbara Brinkley of 30 years being happily together; his sister, Beverly Nordyke (Michael); brothers, Teddy Sharp (Alecia), Larry Sharp (Susi), and Jerry Sharp (Lisa); stepson, Jason Brinkley (Jessica); many nieces and nephews and loyal friends. Not to be forgotten is his constant canine companion, Sophie.

     Mickey retired from Corning, Inc. where he worked for many years and made many lifelong friends.

     Mickey, with his friendly personality and gift to gab loved life and lived his life to the fullest. He loved people, parties, cookouts, and family gatherings. Mickey was a  fabulous cook, specializing in Lasagna, Pig Pickin cakes, and canning vegetables from his garden. Woodworking was another thing Mickey enjoyed and was  quite talented in.  Barbara and Mickey enjoyed taking many trips through the years. Most of all Mickey loved “his Barbara” and all of his family.  

     A visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 14, 2024 at Quinn McGowen Funeral Home Burgaw Chapel with service at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel.

    Interment will follow at Riverview Memorial Park.
