Miriam Barnhill Core

     Miriam Barnhill Core, 88, passed peacefully from her earthly life Monday, December 15, 2025 at her home surrounded with love by her family.

     She was born June 28, 1937 in Bladen County, the daughter of Archie Lee Barnhill and Docia Moore Barnhill. In addition to her parents Miriam was preceded in death by her brother, Norman Barnhill and sister, Marilyn B. Horrell.

     Miriam is survived by her husband, William “Bill” Norman Core; son, Donald M. Barnhill, Jr. (Wendy); sisters, Kay B. Beasley (Donald) and Reba B. Eakins (David); sister-in-law, Wanda Barnhill; several nieces and nephews.

     Miriam loved her family and she was a joy to know. Always enjoyed being outdoors working in her yard and tending to her flower gardens. Not only did she have beautiful yard flowers, but pretty potted plants inside.  She was a devoted wife, mother, sister and aunt. Miriam had a love of animals and often took care some cats and dogs that appeared at her door. Currently she had a special canine companion, Lucky.

     Through the years Miriam and Bill were very supportive of Pender Adult Services and all of their programs. Miriam was loved and will truly be missed.

     There will be no services planned at this time.

      With grateful appreciation Miriam’s family would like to thank the staff of Lower Cape Fear LifeCare and Miriam’s caregivers, Pearlene Wells, Cyretta Page, Nancy Register, Naomi Bland, Eukia Wiggins, and Jondaya Williams for their excellent and devoted care of Miriam.
