Myrle T. Beringer, age 74, of Wallace left this earthly life for his eternal rest on Sunday, June 12, 2022, from Vidant Duplin Hospital.
He was born on May 26, 1948, in Blair County, PA; the son of the late Edward Forde and Mildred Isabel Sprow Beringer.
Myrle loved his community and served it to the best of his ability. He was County Commissioner of Duplin County for 4 years, the voice of the Bulldogs for many years, Parks and Recreation Director of Wallace and coach for several T-ball and Little League teams in the Wallace Community. Myrle was a faithful member of Wallace United Methodist Church.
Surviving to cherish his memory is his best friend and wife of 52 years, Connie Clarke Beringer; his son, Clarke F. Beringer of Wallace and daughter, Melissa Beringer Harris and her husband, Chris of Goose Creek, SC; grandchildren, Kaitlyn Paige Beringer, Conner Clarke Beringer, Landen Mote Beringer and Russell Coen Harris; sister, Kathryn Beringer Mudgett and husband, Russell of Wake Forest; nephews, Phillip Mudgett and his wife Erin, and Andrew Mudgett and his wife Rachael; numerous extended family and friends that love Myrle dearly.
Myrle was a loving husband and caring father, grandfather, and brother. He was a simple man who loved people and never met a stranger. His life was dedicated to God and taking care of his family and his community. Myrle had an immaculate voice and as someone said, “he had a voice of an angel”. Myrle was an avid sportsman who enjoyed coaching, announcing, and watching football. He enjoyed playing golf and at one time he was a ‘golf caddy’. Being a man of great integrity, Myrle was also caring, gentle and kind to everyone he met. Myrle was loved and respected by all who knew him. He was known as “friend” to so many and “PopPop” to his grandchildren. Myrle was without a doubt, a gift from God. All who knew him were truly blessed.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, June 18, 2022, at the Fine Arts Building at Wallace-Rose Hill High School with Myrle and Connie's pastor, the Reverend Dr. William Carey Carlberg officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial gifts be sent to Wallace United Methodist Church, 301 College Street, Wallace, NC 28466.
