Nery Kattan Fields

Nery Kattan Fields, age 82, of Burgaw, NC passed away peacefully on July 9, 2025, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice after a very courageous battle with Alzheimer’s.

Nery was born on September 2, 1942, in Honduras, Central America to Abraham and Amada Kattan. She was the first female to graduate college in her family, an accomplishment she was very proud of. She will be remembered for dedication to her church and family, her love of gardening and planting flowers, her amazing cooking skills and her ability to mess up any joke she attempted to tell.

Nery is survived by her husband of 54 years, Harold H. Fields; her daughter, Lecy Jennifer Barr and husband, James (aka her favorite child); her beloved dogs, Lucy and Buddy; her kitten, Muffin; her sister, Jeaneth Kattan Rivenbark; her niece, Maria Casey; her great niece, Elizabeth Casey Langdon and wife, Brittany, Vanessa Avery; and her remaining sisters, brothers, nieces and nephews in Honduras.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lower Cape Fear LifeCare Foundation, 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington NC 28401, in Nery’s memory. The family extends their heartfelt thanks to Hospice for their compassionate care.
