Norma Newton Jones

Norma Newton Jones, age 93, of Wilmington passed from her early life on Friday, September 20, 2024, at her home.

Born January 13, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Ernest Alderman and Valeria McIntyre Newton.  She was also predeceased by her husband, Wesley Ellis Jones; sons, Donald Wayne Jones; daughter, Peggy Jones Davis; sister, Mavis Barrett;  brother, Cleo Newton and granddaughter, Melissa Child.

Norma was a faithful member of Fellowship Baptist Church.  She enjoyed cooking and watching old westerns on TV; but, her greatest joy was found in spending time with her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren. 

Surviving are sons, Rickie Ellis Jones, James Kenneth “Kenny” Jones and wife, Shirley; daughter, Carol J Holbrook and husband, Wayne; brother, Elvin Newton; grandchildren, Alex Holbrook and wife, Emily, Megan Holbrook, Lindy Jackson and husband, Jeff, Weston Jones and wife, Kayla, Courtney Ashline and husband, Greg, and Edward Jones and numerous great and great great grandchildren.

Funeral service will be 11 AM, Wednesday, September 25, at Fellowship Baptist Church with the Reverend Arnold Griffin officiating.

Entombment will follow in Oleander Memorial Gardens. 

The family will receive friends at 10:00 AM, one hour prior to the funeral service, at Fellowship Baptist Church. 

In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be given to Lower Cape Fear LifeCare Center,  1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401.
