Odeas "Toby" Lee Johnson

Odeas Lee “Toby” Johnson, age 86, of Rose Hill passed from this earthly life to his eternal rest on Tuesday, January 12, 2021.

He was born on February 11, 1934 in Duplin County; the son of the late Leondas and Eldora Fussell Johnson. He was also predeceased by his siblings, Donald Ray Johnson, Jerry Allen Johnson and Peggy Johnson Hunt.

Mr. Johnson served our country honorably in the NC Army National Guard and the Reserves.  He was a member of Rose Hill United Methodist Church.

Surviving is his wife, Janice Atkinson Johnson of the home; his son, Michael Lee Johnson and wife, Missi; his daughters, Brenda Johnson Hilliard and husband, Ben and June Johnson Darden and husband, Rickie; all of Rose Hill; grandchildren, Jessica Hilliard Frye and husband, Andrew, Brandon Hilliard and wife, JoLeigh, Lauren Darden, Mary Landon Johnson, and Bella Gray Johnson; great grandchildren, Brody Frye and Avery Hilliard; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family that loved Odeas dearly.

Odeas or “Toby” as he was affectionately called by his family and friends, was a devoted husband and caring father, and grandfather. He enjoyed the simplest things in life, but his greatest joy was his family.  Being a hard worker, Toby provided for his family and was a dedicated employee of Nash Johnson and Sons.  He enjoyed his work and was good at it.  Toby will surely be missed but treasure memories will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at Rockfish Memorial Cemetery.
