Patricia Brooks Obituary

Patricia Langan Brooks, 80, formerly of Jacksonville, FL and her latter years in Wilmington,NC with her daughter, after an extended illness entered into the joy of the presence of her Lord on Sunday, January 19, 2025.

Patsy was born on November 17, 1944, in Jacksonville, Fl, to the late Elmer John Langan and the late Charlotte Kolls Langan. She is now reunited with her beloved parents and siblings, William Langan and Jean Martin in heaven. Having grown up living on the river on Clifton Avenue in Jacksonville, she loved sharing fond childhood stories and cherished those treasured friendships that have lasted her lifetime. She attended Assumption Catholic School and Bishop Kenny High School. Patricia was a faithful follower of Jesus and a devoted member of the Fruit Cove Baptist Church in St John’s, Florida. Her life Bible verse is Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ Jesus who strengthens me.” She had an unwavering faith in God and He was her anchor in the storms of life. Patsy had a servant’s heart and loved helping in various ministries in her church and community. Known for her gift of hospitality, she brought her love into celebrating every special occasion, especially the holidays with festive decorations and cooking the traditional favorite meals for her family. Her home was always open to others and it was her heart for them to leave with a happy heart and a full tummy. She delighted in studying God’s Word, being a part of her Sunday school class and participating in various Bible studies including completing 8 years of BSF International. Her joy was being a spiritual pillar to her family and loved taking her grandchildren to church every Sunday and to Bible study with her. We have all been blessed to have a Mom and Nana who loved Jesus and has left us with a beautiful legacy of her strong faith. During her lifetime, she loved to travel including our family camping trips in the Florida Keys, traveling to her home in the NC mountains, family reunions at Longboat Key, FL as well as new adventures in Alaska and Ireland. Patsy was a huge sports fan and was especially happy when college football season finally kicked off each year. You would certainly hear her cheering for her favorite Florida Gators! Being such a supportive and involved Nana, she loved attending all of her grandkids special events, dance recitals and sporting events even donning her own jersey with their name and numbers leaving no doubt she was their #1 fan! Her other passions and hobbies included gardening, birding, scrapbooking and quilting with the girls. With her gift of creativity, she took great pleasure in all types of arts and crafts.

Above all, she cherished her family and loved being a Nana and GNana. She was the very best mother, so very generous and always putting her kids' needs before her own, a doting Nana to her nine grandchildren and a blessed G-Nana of 10 great-grands. Patsy was full of life, fun loving, with a positive, outgoing personality and truly brought smiles and happiness to every room she entered. She cherished the people God brought into her life and the joy of fellowshipping with others. Patsy was also a beautiful and faithful friend to so many throughout her life journey. Jesus and family were everything to her. She touched so many lives for the better and will be profoundly missed by all that knew and loved her. She lived her life being a blessing to others. Patricia is survived by her daughter, Sherri Fallin (David); her sons, Millard “Buddy” Brooks lll, and John Brooks; her grandchildren, Victoria Richwine (Adam), Sumner Miller (Sheldon), Kollson Fallin (Kaylee), Madison Burrell (Christian) Ashleigh Brooks (Austin), Savannah McCurdy (Bruce), Abigail, John Jr, Lindsey Wheaton (Cody); her great grandchildren, Payton, Jane, Weston, Noah, Waylon, Eli, Addy, Lilly, Logan, Ruby ; and many more dear family members and cherished friends.
