Neomia Pearl Rooks, 94, of Rocky Point passed gently from her earthly life Saturday, November 19, 2022 at her son’s home.
She was born August 7, 1928 in Pender County, the daughter of Joseph Benjamin Chadwick and Laura Lee Register Chadwick Good.
Upon entering heaven to meet her Lord and Savior, Pearl was reunited with her beloved husband of 65 years, Lorace James Rooks, Sr. Together they had three children, Ann, Jean, and Jimmy.
Pearl is survived by her daughters, Portia Ann Muse and Victoria Jean Oakes; son, Lorace James “Jimmy” Rooks, Jr. and wife, Susan; nine grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter; many extended family members and friends.
In 1992 Pearl retired from Corning, Inc after working for many years. She was a long time member of Riley’s Creek Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school and fulfilled many other capacities. Pearl loved and served the Lord all of her life on earth.
Pearl enjoyed cooking, family gathering/dinners, crocheting, the beach, and traveling with Lorace in their RV. Best of all Pearl loved being a Wife, Mother, Grandmother, and Friend to many.
The family will receive friends at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 22, 2022 at Riley’s Creek Baptist Church with funeral service beginning at 11:00 a.m., both in the church sanctuary. The Rev. Melvin Hall will conduct the service.
Burial will follow in Riley’s Creek Memorial Cemetery.
