Peggy Ann (Wood) Owens

     Peggy Ann Owens, 77, passed from her earthly life Saturday, May 3, 2025, at Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

     She was born March 21, 1948 in Wilmington, the daughter of Clarence Melvin Wood and Amilda Arlene Williamson Lanier. In addition to her parents Peggy was preceded in death by her husband, John Gary Owens, Jr. and brother, Larry Wood.

     Peggy is survived by her son, Eddie Faulkner (Tonya); grandchildren, Lauren Faulkner, Bailey Faulkner, and Wyatt Faulkner; sisters, Connie Crocker (Jimmy) and Diane Rivenbark (Edward); brothers, Dennis Wood and Lonnie Wood (June); many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

     Peggy was the oldest of the six children in her family and she was like a mother hen helping her mom care for her siblings. When Peggy spoke everyone “listened up” and obeyed. Peggy was very creative – an excellent seamstress, enjoyed crocheting and knitting, outstanding in art both drawing and painting, and made all kinds of crafts. It is noted that she once drew a picture of a beautiful dress and then made the dress without a pattern to go by, and it was perfect! In addition to all her talents Peggy was an all around good lady who dearly loved her family. Peggy was loved and will truly be missed. 

     A memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 10, 2025 at Quinn McGowen Funeral Home Burgaw Chapel with Pastor Clint Jones conducting the service. The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service.
