She was born on March 10, 1949, in New Hanover County; the daughter of the late Benny Foy and the late Virginia Benton Foy Byrd. Peggy was also predeceased by her brothers, Gary Foy and Bennie Ray Foy.
Peggy was a member of Wallace Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Surviving to cherish her memory is her husband of 28 years, Jon Sikes of the home; her sons, Guy Croom and wife, Janeth of Wallace, and Donald Croom of Wallace; grandchildren and the apples of her eye, Logan Croom, Garrett Croom, Brandon Parker and wife Jordan and Tyler Brett Sikes; and numerous extended family and friends that loved Peggy dearly.
Peggy was a devoted wife and loving mother, grandmother and friend. She was a woman of uncommon character, beauty and grace, “an instrument of God’s love on this earth.” Peggy was a friend to all, a strong yet gentle and loving presence to all who were blessed to know her. Being a great cook, she enjoyed cooking for her family and others. Peggy loved people and loved taking care of others. She worked for over 10 years with Home Health Care and later at the Naval Hospital for 18 years until she retired in 2017. Peggy’s favorite pastime was getting her nails manicured and her hair done. She always tried to make sure these were always to perfection. Most of all, Peggy loved her Lord and her church. She is now in the presence of Jesus where she will be forever. Peggy will surely be missed but treasured memories of her will remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
